Happy Pals Service Dogs

I very much look forward to working with you, what are you waiting for call today!

Here at Happy Pals Dog Training we pride ourselves with the quality training we provide our clients with while helping them to train Service Dogs for psychiatric disabilities such as PTSD, Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, or any other chemical imbalance of the brain.

We have a one of a kind program that takes dedication and self discipline. Our process takes anywhere from a year or two to finish. You might finish sooner if you keep up on homework and train everyday. We dedicate ourselves to you, and we will be there every step of the way.

Please keep reading to know how the process works to know if this is the right decision for you.  If you do not know if your disability qualifies for a Service Dog, please talk to your doctor and they will better assist you.

The American with Disabilities Act defines a Service Dog as "Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.

Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties.

Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA." http://www.ada.gov/service_animals_2010.htm.

If you meet this requirement then we are ready to help you. If you already own a dog that you think would make a great Service Dog, we can evaluate your dog for you. If you do not already have a dog we will help pair you with the right dog for you and your disability.

I must let you know that we do NOT board and train, this is how we keep the cost of training so low. We will meet once a week at our facility usually in a group to learn basic obedience commands.

You will continue to work on what you have been taught throughout the week. Once basic obedience is passed we will guide you through the process of ordering your Service Dog vest. While we are waiting on the vest we will start training outside of business, and inside the pet stores.  Once the vest comes in we will start training inside of all kinds of public places. Public access training will be one on one training with the team. We will still meet one a week, and train up to the IAADP standards. http://www.iaadp.org/iaadp-minimum-training-standards-for-public-access.html.

Each week you will be required to turn in your training log.

Once we reach the point that the team is ready for the public access test, we will preform it at our local mall. If you pass you will receive our Graduation certificate, a patch for your vest, and a id card for your Team with emergency information on it. Id cards are NOT required by law, this is just something that our clients have asked for in case of a emergency so we have provided it.

We do NOT charge 15k or more for Service Dog training. Our services are offered for a low $80 a hour for training and $160 for the exam.
